Before starting to list of its competency areas it’s better first to define the phrase Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity. It is an activity that increases and improves subject knowledge or pedagogy. It contributes to enhancing the student experience as well as promotes engagement with research and supports research led/informed learning, teaching, and assessment. Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity have four components, which are Information Literacy (i.e. the ability to find, evaluate, organize, use, and communicate information in all its various formats, most notably in situations requiring decision-making, problem-solving, or the acquisition of knowledge.), Information Synthesis (i.e. the process of analyzing and evaluating information from various sources, making connections between the information found, and combining the recently acquired information with prior knowledge to create something new.), Original Research (i.e. the report of a study written by the researchers who actually did the study. the researchers describe their hypothesis or research question and the purpose of the study. the researchers detail their research methods. the results of the research are reported.), and Dissemination of Results (i.e. getting the findings of your research to the people who can make use of them, to maximize the benefit of the research without delay. Research is of no use unless it gets to the people who need to use it.).
